Doing things right or doing right things

Ladies and gentlemen,

I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. Today my topic is doing things right or doing right things.
Everyone wants to be a perfect person, because everyone wants to do the right things and do things right, but in many cases, we have to face the choice: whether to do the right things or do it right. Some people may say that such choices are not common in our lives, that is because they lack the eyes of discovery. I am here to give an example: Your teacher carelessly made a mistake in class, you know that he said something wrong, you choose to correct his mistake, do the right thing, or be selfish, ignore the mistake, improve your classroom efficiency, and do your own things right.

If this is not enough to explain the problem, I can give a more extreme example: during the World War Ⅱ, the German Nazis established concentration camps and slaughtered the Jews. The army of German Nazis tried many methods of killing such as shooting, beheading, and then poison gas. They used the technology created by humans to improve the slaughter efficiency and successfully complete the government’s orders, but was it correct? I think not. It is contrary to human ethics. So, when we do things, we must do the right things first.

But there is still a problem. We must know that different people have different definitions of the right things. To give a more common example, your friend was playing games on the computer in the classroom and you had seen him do so, and you chose to tell your teacher about it. The teacher punished your friend to prevent it from happening again. But in the eyes of your friend, it was you who caused him to be punished by the teacher. It is all your fault; you had done something wrong. That is because of the lack of contradictions caused by empathy.

Combining the content, which I discussed above, we can draw a truth about doing things. First of all, we must think differently. From the perspective of different people, this matter is correct or not. If it is correct, we should deal with the actions and try our best to do things right.

That’s all. Thank you.
